open-dj

Local-first DJ library tooling, and an open format for track metadata.

open-dj is a personal toolkit for managing a DJ music library across the apps and hardware that refuse to agree with each other. It reads and writes rekordbox, djay, Serato and Traktor libraries, keeps analysis and cue points consistent between them, and keeps the whole thing on your own machines.

What it does

Reconciles one library across rekordbox, djay, Serato and Traktor.
Keeps analysed values (BPM, key, cues, ratings) wrapped with their provenance, so the next app's auto-analysis cannot silently clobber them.
Runs stem separation and vocal detection, and keeps the results addressable across machines.
Ships a performance view for actually playing the result.

The format

The open-dj format is a published specification for exchanging DJ track metadata between applications without losing provenance. Every analysed value carries where it came from and when, so merging two libraries is a decision rather than a coin toss.

open-dj is a personal project, run locally by its author. It is not affiliated with Pioneer DJ, Algoriddim, Serato or Native Instruments, nor with the OpenDJ LDAP directory server, which is an unrelated project that shares a name.

Accounts and data

open-dj runs on your own computer and stores its library data there. Signing in with Google is optional and is used only to identify you across your own machines. It reads nothing from your Google account beyond your name, email address and profile picture, and sends your data to no one. See the privacy policy for specifics.
